When the primer is completely dry the wallboard primer is sanded with 120-180 grit paper. A pole sander may be helpful
See Image
The wood primer is sanded with fine 180-220 grit paper.
The room is thoroughly dusted out. Joints are caulk with a
quality latex caulk
The ceiling is cut in & rolled rolled with finish paint.
Before painting trim
and after the ceiling has completely dried, look the ceiling over to see if
it needs another coat. It may take several hours of dry time to
flatten out, however the dry time really depends on the drying
conditions of the room.
The wood work will often need a second coat for good coverage. Allow sufficient dry time between coats. This may be only several hours for some latex .Oil base usually requires an overnight dry , but we often prefer an extra night dry time between oil based finishes.
Again a 2.5" angular sash brush works good for the cutting
in however you will sometimes need a smaller brush.
Continue until the walls are completed
Usually a 2.5" or 3" inch and a 1"or1.5" inch angular sash brush will work for most trim.
If the ceiling is finished, it is usually easier to paint the trim (except for the baseboards) before the walls.
When finished with the trim start painting the walls. Cut in and roll one wall at a time
Use the rolling methods described on page 2 of this section.
